Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (July 1, 1646 (June 21 Old Style) - November 14, 1716) is a German polymath who writes primarily in Latin and French. He is an important character in the The Baroque Cycle. He maintained a correspondence in the with both Eliza and Daniel Waterhouse, both of whom counted Leibniz as a friend.
His feud with Isaac Newton over the discovery of Calculus is a primary theme throughout the Cycle.
